Oxfordshire cottage inglenook hot-mixed lime repointing

This inglenook fireplace was repointed as part of a larger scheme of works that saw the entire exterior repointed with a lovely creamy-white, hot-mixed quicklime mortar. Internal work always has its challenges, but we were able to carefully remove the cement mortar and replace it with lime. The close-up below shows the historic lime wash that would have coated the entire interior and exterior originally.
