What makes this survey different
Most damp surveys are carried out by companies selling treatment products which means their diagnosis tends to lead to the same conclusion regardless of the cause. Ours is entirely independent. Tom Harris has spent over a decade working on historic buildings and understands how traditional solid-wall construction manages moisture and how easily it can be misread. Rather than reaching for a protimeter and recommending injection treatments, we look at the building as a whole. This includes how it's built, how it breathes, how it's been altered, and what's actually causing the problem. In most cases, the answer is simpler and cheaper to fix than the treatment industry would have you believe.
What the survey includes
A full external inspection combined with an internal assessment of moisture loading, heating, ventilation, and reported damp issues. We assess the likely source and cause of any dampness, how the building's construction and setting are contributing, and what the appropriate response is. You'll receive a detailed written report with photographs, condition ratings for the affected elements, and clear recommendations. Once the report is issued, you're welcome to call and talk through the findings.
Fee
£825. For properties where damp is one concern amongst several, or where you would like a full assessment of the property's overall condition, a Heritage Building Survey or Level 3 Building Survey may give you better value. If you are not sure which is right, please get in touch and we will advise you before you book.
